QuayNote Choral Music (Q.C.M.) is an independent print music publishing company established and run by Christians and associated with the independant recording studio, Yorkview Studios. I initially founded QuayNote Choral Music in 1991 in order to publish 'TWELVE NEW PRAISE CHORUSES', my first collection of Christian P&W music. Most of my hymns and other Christian songs are available through this website. Q.C.M. also produces Christian songs and lyrics on a commission basis, for special occasions. We strive for substance and theological soundness in our lyrics, and indeed most songs are based directly on identified Scriptural passages and on accepted Christian ideals. Our prayer is that God will use the songs for His glory and to increase His kingdom on earth - TO GOD ONLY, BE THE GLORY!

— FAQ —
Q: How many years has your company been in business? A: I started writing in 1978 and Q.C.M. was formed in 1991. I have continued to be inspired to write, even more as the years go by!
Q: What is your e-mail address, if I have questions or want to commission a song? A: Please use: info @ bjwallace.com (note that you must type the address with NO spaces...the reason it is shown here with spaces is to prevent robotic programmes from 'skimming' the website and deluging us with SPAM mail!)
Q: What do you do other than compose and write Christian songs? A: I have been a Baptist minister of music, here in Toronto, Canada, for over 26 years. Along with writing and composing Christian songs and ministering in music at my church, I am involved in the hardware retail field!
Q: Where can I hear samples of your songs? A: Just go to WWW.SHARESONG.ORG or WWW.FREEPRAISEandWORSHIP.ORG, scroll to the bottom, and do a search for the author's name: Brian James Wallace. I have over 25 demos on the site in MIDI / AUDIO MP3 / LEADSHEET formats.
Q: Can you write simple P&W choruses with chords and melody line only on the leadsheet? A: Certainly. In fact most of my requests are for this format, which is often used by church P&W groups and guitarists and music leaders, to introduce new songs. It is actually the simplest way to do it!
Q: What copyrights and limits are implied by the use or commissioning of your songs? A: Existing songs are copyright by me, and are covered by my C.C.L.I. licence for non-profit use. I am also a member of S.O.C.A.N. (the Canadian performing rights group - the analogue of A.S.C.A.P. in the States). All songs that are commissioned and paid-for can be used as the procurer wishes, with the only stipulation that I would appreciate it if the author's name be printed on all copies when the piece is performed and that I be informed if the song is to be used in a money-making venture.
Q: What is your fee for composing a new song or chorus? A: Depending on the nature of the final product (ie how complex the song will be / nature of the accompaniment score / whether or not a MIDI or audio accompaniment track is required, the amount of work would dictate the fee. I normally charge only a nominal fee for my work, over and above studio costs.
Q: How will I know how much you will ask for my new song or request? A: If you send me all the details (scriptural reference / style of music / what you will want in the way of score or leadsheet / type of track or MIDI - if requested), I can give you a 'ballpark' cost - then we can proceed from there.
Q: Why do you charge for your songs if feel led to write and consider it a ministry? A: Maintaining a studio and business - costs money, unfortunately. If I was independantly wealthy, I would just write 'gratis', but I have to cover my operating costs. As it is, I have a 'day job' in the hardware retail sector to allow me to have the flexibility to continue to write and create music. However, prayerfully, many of my songs are in public domain to be used for further God's Kingdom - I only ask that you inform me when they will be used in other than worship service situations. (ie: fundraising / concerts) Of course, it's always encouraging to hear where the songs are being used...so, please give me a shout if you've found them useful!
Q: Can your songs be used without payment in regular church services and for worship teams? A: Of course! The primary goal of writing my music is to further the church's work...
Q: Do you write songs, even if not commissioned to do so? A: Of course! I feel led to write, as I find inspiration. Sometimes it's a sermon by our pastor, sometimes it is a personal experience, and sometimes, I just sit down and write! Some songs have yet to be performed, but most have had at least one use (by my longsuffering choir, men's chorale or our church's P&W group!)
Q: Where are some examples of places your songs have been used? A: It never fails to amaze me when I get an e-mail or letter from some far-away place - that one of my songs has been used in a revival, service or concert! Lately, I have had responses from INDIA, SOUTH AFRICA, ENGLAND, KOREA and places all over the U.S.A. It is great to know that my songs might be playing even a small part in helping to bring someone to know the Lord!
